I've never been to Western Kilimanjaro Park before, but heard that this is a very unusual place. First of all, maasai officially live there, and I was admire how they do this (I heard different stories, but things are changing and what I saw really made me happy). But It means that there are no predators such lions or they behave so quiet that you don't hear and don't see them.
But the Nature is amazing and Holy place is never empty. Turned out the most unsuspected animal took place of predators - Giraffes! Few years ago I witnessed and photographed how red-billed oxpeckers were cleaning giraffes teeth. Since then I dreamed to see it again. And finally it happened! And a lot! Almost every giraffe we met had birds around their mouths! I started to look more carefully and couldn't believe my eyes - looked like birds disappeared in giraffes months! I never suspected to see giraffes in this role, but... really: Holy place is never empty! Nature needs balance! No lions - take a fact like giraffes became predators!
This is a joke, of course! - giraffes are kindest and cutest animals with many funny manners and nonе of their habits cause any problem for other species. For that reasons and because of biggest and the most beautiful eyes they are national animal of Tanzania.
